Richard Montes Lemus is an undergraduate student majoring in Environmental Science at The University of California, Santa Barbara. He is currently an intern for the Smithsonian OCIO Data Science Lab, where he works with Dr. Alex White to develop machine learning tools to survey Island Spotted Skunks on Santa Cruz Island from camera trap images. His work intends to streamline quantitative ecological research through machine learning. He is passionate about revolutionizing environmental science through cutting-edge data science tools.
